Real Ales Always on

Dry and refreshing with a lingering bitter finish. An aroma that reminds you of the seaside.

Edgars Pale Ale (EPA) is brewed for the Edgar Wallace Pub by the Nethergate Brewery on the Essex/Suffolk borders in the beautiful Stour Valley. It is an excellent amber-coloured session bitter (3.5%abv) with a clean, crisp taste. Plenty of malt and hop bitterness. Brewed using Maris otter pale malt, Crystal malt and malted wheat. Challenger hops for bitterness and Fuggles for aroma.

Ales for Jul 2008

Brewed using Spring barley along with Mittlefruh and Perle hops from Southern Germany, this is a refreshing pale ale with a distinctive flavour.

A darker malty bitter with nutty, roasted notes from the Chocolate Malt. A satisfying and flavoursome pint.

Light, crisp, golden and thirst quenching, conjuring up images of those lazy summer days.

An impressive golden straw coloured medium bodied ale brewed using English Maris Otter malts and Fuggles giving a distinctive and assertive hop character balanced with a fruity palate and a malty finish.

A smooth lightly coloured drink, with a mellow hoppy finish.

An exceptionally fine balance of malt and hops give this beer a long dry and extremely satisfying finish.

A refreshing straw coloured beer with soft fruit flavours and a hint of sweetness from the fine malt. It is a great beer to quench the thirst and has a wonderful bright, blonde colour in the glass. Named after the Lakeland author Alfred Wainwright who was born in Blackburn in 1907.

A rich deep chestnut coloured ale, with a beautifully smooth creamy head. A citrus aftertaste gives way to a long dry finish.

A predominantly malty, light hopped beer giving a satisfying fullness of flavour with a warming finish.

A delicious traditional porter with a full-bodied taste of chocolate, coffee, blackcurrant and black cherry with a good aroma. A near black colour.

A dark, rich bitter which is creamy and very smooth to the palate.

A deep golden ale brewed with Cascade hops, well balanced, crisp and refreshing.
